At My Moto, we like to get involved in some racing at the level that is affordable if we can . As well as the Freetech 125 Endurance racing series team, two of our staff, Andy, our Store Manager and James, our Technician like hill climb racing, usually raced on short courses with no prep, i.e cold tyres and the idea is you send it as fast as you can up a hill, or over a short course with the best time winning. This weekend, the early Bank Holiday, the team for the Freetech Endurance were away at Ellough Park in Norfolk for a 10 hour endurance, Jim and Andy went the other way to Scarborough for the Biker Lawyers Olivers Mount May Hill Climb.

We finished 17th completing 562 laps despite a crash!

The Scarborough crew managed something a little more spectacular Andy finishing a credible mid pack in his class on his KTM790 Duke. Jim decided that he could do better, racing in two classes, one with his MT09 and the other with his CB500.

Jim decided to grab a handful before the hairpin on the MT09 and the front let go with spectacular results!

We do like to go on about safety, as that is the focus of the store, to make sure riders purchase the best product that they can to ensure they are as safe as could be.

Jim was wearing an airbag suit that deployed before impact and he walked away with a bruised finger and an ankle twist. Without that level of protection, things could have been much worse. He got back on the CB500 and won his class shortly after. Jim was also awarded the Spirit of the Meeting award for his efforts!

So, please look at safety when riding at all times, if not airbag, then A, AA or AAA rated gear with a decent helmet.

Jim, not sure whether his trophies are worth a new MT09 and a carbon Nolan X804 helmet.
